Our moving company agent recommended The Car Carrier. Everything looked good, from our contact with the office to scheduling pick up and delivery. They called us on the first day of the three-day window and told us the car would be picked up between 7 and 10 PM. It was one of our last nights in our hometown and it was a bummer that we needed to stick around the house to process the car, but such is life. And then they did not come. I had a number, from the person who had called earlier to schedule the pickup, but no one answered the phone and I could not leave a message. I called The Car Carrier and no one picked up there either. The movers were coming for my stuff the next day and I had been stood up by Car Carrier with no information. At 11 PM I left a message for Car Carrier and went to bed.
The next morning, my husband was pretty adamant that he would not proceed with this company (reading the Yelp reviews sealed it) and we went to work finding a new company for THAT DAY. Crazy, right? We found one though! We went with Road Runner and they were awesome (I would write a spectacular review for them, but I cannot find them on Yelp. Suffice to say, they booked us same day, delivered our car 3 days later, kept in good contact with us, and they charged less than Car Carrier). I got a call that afternoon from someone wanting to pick up the car, a subcontractor, and they could not tell me if they were working for Road Runner or Car Carrier.
So I called Car Carrier to see if this was their person. The woman on the other end knew of my message. In fact, she immediately knew it was me and referenced my voicemail. But no one from their company had reached out all day, even though they knew I had been stood up. She gave me a long story about why the agent had not picked up the car after all, but it does not matter. YOU NEED TO CALL AND LET ME KNOW what is going on because thats all it would have took. Instead, I hung around all night waiting to hear from someone about anything.
So that is our Car Carrier saga. We got out quick. I am relieved. (more)

Picked up the cars a day late and the communications were a lot more than a doll ar short. That cost me more that $500 and they didn't give a darn. I would warn anyone, even if referred by a moving company rep for United Van Lines or associated company, not to use this company to broker the transport of your vehicle. (more)

: Expensive way to ruin a new car
I used the Car Carrier to send my car from MD to CA because Mayflower (my moving company) recommended them. They were expensive at $1192, but I thought that because Mayflower recommended them it would be worth it. I have a less than 1 year old SMART car (no discount on the little car).
My car was picked up the same day as my house items were picked up from Mayflower. The man who got my car said that it would arrive in 4 days, which was much shorter than the time my house items were set to arrive. The man said it would cost $100 to store my car, until we could pick it up. He also said that if he didn't take the car right then, we would charged for him coming out. I would have said good luck getting that money and gotten a new car transport service, but my husband was with the man and so off went my car.
We arrived to pick up the car at a low end garage (not the place I'd expect my car to be for $1200 shipping). It was outside and covered in dust. I opened it and noticed a terrible smell. When I got inside, it smelled like homeless person had been living in it. I made a joke to my husband and started to drive home. While driving home, I noticed black spots on my tan interior. It looked like someone had been lying in my car and gotten boot marks all over it. Both seats and the doors were dirty.
I arrived home in tears. I had just spend $1300 for my new car to arrive stinking and dirty. I realize the men who drove the car truck made it across country in 4 days, but what were they doing in my car to make it so smelly and get foot prints on the seats. FOR OVER $1OOO COULD THEY NOT AFFORD A TOWEL TO PUT ON THE SEAT?
It's not been a month of me calling and trying to get a partial refund for the stains on seats that will not come out. The smell is gone, but it lingered for several days, which makes me wonder how long someone who hadn't showered in days was sitting in my new car. My car does not feel the same to me and I feel completely ripped off. (more)
